Golf

From Nerja there are two golf clubs within a reasonable distance, Baviera golf which is the closest and Anoreta Golf a little further along the road towards Málaga. These two courses were both designed by Jose Maria Canizares the well-known Spanish golfer from Madrid who amongst other achievements played in the European Ryder cup team four times, in five European PGA tours and two World Championships.

Baviera Golf

The course at Baviera Golf is an 18 hole, par 72 course located just 500m from the coastal town of Caleta de Vélez. Set slightly inland from the town’s beaches and marina the course lies in a shallow valley which combined with the favourable microclimate of the region makes for an excellent location to enjoy a game of Golf. The 5,910m long course includes a variety of obstacles along with wide open greens making it ideal for all types of handicaps.

In 2008 Baviera golf opened a new, larger club house which now boasts excellent facilities for visitors to the course. As well as ample car parking and restaurant the club house also offers, changing rooms with lockers, caddy master and pro shop, clubs rental, ultrasonic club cleaning service, childcare services as well as a gymnasium and Jacuzzi / sauna.

If you think you’d like to play a round or two whilst you’re here it’s best to plan ahead as Baviera golf offers discounts for online bookings. Take a look at their website here for more information on offers, facilities and the clubs rules of etiquette.

Anoreta Golf

The Anoreta golf course was the first golf course to be built in the Axarquia region and is an 18 hole, par-72 course that measures in at 5,976m long. It’s located a little closer to Málaga than Baviera golf, only 20 minutes from the city centre on the eastern edge of the town of Rincon de la Victoria. The courses owners proudly boast that it’s so varied you’ll need every club in the bag. At approximately 1km from the coast it has beautiful views over the sea which you can’t help but enjoy whilst you play. The clubhouse has been built true to the roots of the region in the style of a traditional Andalusian farmhouse incorporating all the influences of the Moorish history including their love of fountains and water features.

The clubhouse includes a restaurant with terrace, snack bar and four padel courts, a sport which is very popular in Spain. You also will receive a 10% discount if you book online prior to your visit.

If you’d like to play the course at Anoreta Golf it’s easily accessible from the motorway. From Nerja head towards Málaga and take exit number 258. From there just follow the signs for the course.
