As a sea side resort much of life, particularly in the summer months, revolves around the sea and Nerja's beaches. With the area from Maro to La Herradura being declared a protected natural park the municipality of Nerja regularly draws the attention of Spain’s national press with no better way to explore it than from the sea.

As you may already guess there a number of water sports you can enjoy whilst you’re here, most of which can be found at Burriana beach. Take a look at our list below and see if there’s anything that’s to your liking.

Kayaking

During the summer period Kayaking along the coast is a very popular activity and undoubtedly the best way to appreciate the beauty of the cliffs and secluded coves of the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo natural park. You can hire a single seater Kayak (although double seaters are available) for €10 per person, per hour from Burriana and Maro beaches. Local guides can also accompany you too so you’ll get to visit the prettiest coves whilst finding out more about the areas wildlife.
