Water Sports in Nerja
As a sea side resort much of life, particularly in the summer months, revolves around the sea and Nerja's beaches. With the area from Maro to La Herradura being declared a protected natural park the municipality of Nerja regularly draws the attention of Spain’s national press with no better way to explore it than from the sea.
As you may already guess there a number of water sports you can enjoy whilst you’re here, most of which can be found at Burriana beach. Take a look at our list below and see if there’s anything that’s to your liking.
During the summer period Kayaking along the coast is a very popular activity and undoubtedly the best way to appreciate the beauty of the cliffs and secluded coves of the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo natural park. You can hire a single seater Kayak (although double seaters are available) for €10 per person, per hour from Burriana and Maro beaches. Local guides can also accompany you too so you’ll get to visit the prettiest coves whilst finding out more about the areas wildlife.
The Nerja Diving Centre can be found midway along Burriana beach amongst the various bars and restaurants and is a 5 Star PADI instructor centre. It has plenty of activities for you to choose from including snorkeling trips for the less adventurous, starter PADI courses for first timers, Professional courses, night dives and equipment rental. Parasail Nerja offers a number of activities throughout the summer months including Banana Boat rides, Jet-Ski rental and of course Parasailing. You’ll find them literally on the Burriana beach with a couple of small kiosks at either end. A Banana boat ride costs €5 per person, Jet-Ski hire is €30 for 15 minutes and Parasailing €40 per person although they also have offers if more than one person wants to have a go.
